Team Lead Lifeguard/Instructor

POSITION: TEAM LEAD LIFEGUARD


SUMMARY: 

The Barrhead Regional Aquatics Centre has one full-time position opening for Team Lead Lifeguard and Instructor.

Under the direct Supervision of the Aquatic Supervisor the Team Lead lifeguard supports the safe operation of the Barrhead Regional Aquatics Centre. The Team Lead assists the Aquatic Supervisor with facility operations, staff training, and occupational health and safety, staff supervision, teaching and first aid.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assume responsibility of “Manager on Duty” in the absence of the Aquatic Coordinator or Aquatic Supervisor
  • Supervision and oversight of Instructors, Lifeguards. Lifeguard/Instructors and Team Leads as assigned
  • Assist as assigned in the development, maintenance, and implementation of:
    • Facility Operational checklists
    • Staff scheduling
    • Training
    • Facility safety
    • Maintenance procedures
  • Assist as assigned in completing.
    • Facility Inspections
    • Staff performance reviews
    • Staff training
    • Major Incident write up.  
  • Demonstrate a high level of professionalism, customer service and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Participate in training opportunities and meetings as required.
  • Management of and participation in maintenance tasks as assigned.
  • Lifeguarding and instructing as required.
  • Maintain current qualifications.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned.


SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES

  • Solid practical work experience in an aquatic setting is an asset
  • Detail oriented, strong administrative and organizational skills  
  • Two years plus in a supervisory capacity and able to lead a team of workers
  • Minimum two years customer services experience in a fast-paced organization   
  • Able to manage customer queries and complaints  
  • Professional demeanor while under pressure.  
  • Is knowledgeable in the NL and LSI Standards -  NL instructor would be an asset

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Two (2) years lifeguarding experience
  • Current Swim and Lifesaving Instructor certification
  • Current CALA or Water Art Training
  • Current National Lifeguarding Pool certification
  • Current Intermediate First Aid certification
  • Advanced leadership training would be considered an asset (e.g., First Aid Instructor, National Lifeguard Instructor)
  • Pool Operator 1 and 2 would be considered an asset
  • Aquatic Management Training would be considered an asset
  • Be able to provide a clear Police Security Clearance and Vulnerable Sector search
  • Provide a Driver's Abstract
  • WHMIS


EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Prefer Two (2) years lifeguarding experience
  • Current Swim and Lifesaving Instructor   
  • Current National Lifeguarding Pool
  • Current Standard First Aid/CPR “C” Certification/AED or Aquatic Emergency Care.
  • Advanced leadership training (Ex. Water Fitness Instructor, First Aid Instructor, National Lifeguard Instructor , would be considered an asset
  • Pool Operator 1 and 2-would be considered an asset
  • Head Lifeguard or Aquatic Supervisor Training-would be considered an asset
  • Aquatic Management Training-would be considered an asset
  • Provide a Police Security Clearance and Vulnerable Sector search
  • Drivers Abstract
  •  WHMIS  

 

HOURS OF WORK:         

This position is a full-time position with requirement to work some evenings and weekends.


SALARY:
