Mayor David McKenzie was elected as a Town Councillor in October 2004 and as the Mayor of the Town of Barrhead in October 2017.
"I arrived in Barrhead in 1992 as the senior Cst with the RCMP. I became involved in the community as the Judo instructor for the local club as well as teaching a number of other courses. On retirement from the RCMP I successfully ran for Council in 2004 and served 3 terms. I also spent 9 years as a Traffic Safety Consultant for Alberta Transportation. My wife Grace, daughter Nadine, and 3 grandkids continue to enjoy the Barrhead community. I look forward to serving Barrhead as your Mayor."
