Immediate & General Care
Two fully staffed private medical clinics and the Barrhead Healthcare Centre, ensure residents and visitors have access to excellent health care. With 34 active treatment beds, Barrhead Healthcare Centre provides a wide range of services to the region, including obstetrics, surgery, general medicine, auxiliary care, emergency x-ray, rehabilitation, physiotherapy, diet counselling and education programs.

Retirement Communities
There are many facilities which are maintained for senior living and care. The Hillcrest Home Foundation provides assisted living programs to help seniors maintain optimum well being. Three manors operated by Barrhead & District Social Housing Association offer independent senior living; Klondike Place, Golden Crest, and Jubilee Manor.

Pembina Hills
Barrhead's local schools are ran under the Pembina Hills School Division. You can find all the information you need in regard to schooling here: Pembina Hills Website
Barrhead Composite High School, Public Library and the Elementary School, all are located along 53 Avenue.
Student Achievement
Pembina Hills' students have consistently distinguished themselves in academic and athletic competitions. Each year a number of our students are far above the provincial average, some scoring a remarkable 100% on the Grade 12 diploma exams. Students from Pembina Hills are frequent winners in Drama, Music, Art and provincial Athletics.
In addition, Pembina Hills' students have attracted national recognition for their achievements in Career and Technology Studies.
Alberta Distance Learning Centre
ADLC
Barrhead is home to the Alberta Distance Learning Centre (ADLC) - Alberta's premier distance education centre, serving over 22,000 students from Grade 1 to Grade 12 taking courses in either print or on-line format.
The Centre began in 1923 as the Alberta Correspondence School and was renamed the Alberta Distance Learning Centre when it was relocated to Barrhead in 1983. In 1997, ADLC came under the operation of Pembina Hills Regional School Division No. 7 and it has continued to serve the alternative learning needs of students in Alberta, across Canada and around the world. Post-Secondary Education
Barrhead is within commuting distance of Edmonton. Edmonton provides us with post-secondary institutions such as the University of Alberta, Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) and Grant McEwan College. Satellite campuses in Barrhead exist for Northern Lakes College through the Barrhead Business and Education Link located in the MALL.
