FIRE RESTRICTION IN EFFECT - 4:00 PM, MAY 26, 2023
FIRE BAN DOWNGRADED TO FIRE RESTRICTION
COMMENCING 4:00 PM, MAY 26, 2023
The Fire Chief for the Barrhead Regional Fire Services has downgraded the fire ban to a FIRE RESTRICTION to allow fires in approved fire pits.
This update will:
- REMOVE the restriction on approved fireplaces and fire pits
The following regulations are still in effect, which:
- PROHIBITS all outdoor fires not contained in an approved fireplaces or fire pits
This fire restriction does not apply to:
- Approved fireplaces and fire pits
- Propane Barbeques
- Propane fire pits
This fire restriction will remain in effect until downgraded or lifted by the proper authority as designated by the Town of Barrhead.
WHAT IS AN APPROVED FIRE PIT?
Section 6 of the Town of Barrhead Fire Services Bylaw outlines standards that must be met for an outdoor fireplace and firepit to be compliant.
WHY HAS THE TOWN DOWNGRADED THE BAN?
The fire hazard within the Town of Barrhead has improved considerably. The province has also revised their fire ban to include fire in fire pits and the use of off road vehicles.
