BARRHEAD REGIONAL AQUATICS CENTRE EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY


The Town is seeking energetic individuals to come work in a new state of the art Aquatic Facility in Barrhead, Alberta. The pool is attached to our Agrena facility, and Curling Rink at 5609-47 Street.  The Aquatic Centre consists of a 25m 6-lane pool, a fabulous zero depth entry leisure pool with a lazy river, a hot tub and a steam room. We are seeking Lifeguards to fill Part Time positions within the Aquatic Centre.


LIFEGUARD JOB SUMMARY


Working with the Aquatic Supervisor, Head Guard, and Team Leads, this position requires the ideal candidate to posses great public relations skills, quality lifeguarding ability, public education skills, participate in facility maintenance, and provide first aid as needed. This position will include working varying hours in a Monday to Sunday work week.


AQUATICS NEW-HIRE INCENTIVE PROGRAM


The Town of Barrhead is offering an Aquatics New Hire Incentive Program where newly employed aquatics staff will be able to take lifeguard certification courses for free and earn an income while training. This type of incentive program has never been offered by the Town of Barrhead and is an excellent opportunity for those in the Barrhead region to start a career in aquatics. Applicants must reside in either the Town or County of Barrhead, and be available to work weekday daytime hours to complete the training.

PROGRAM INFORMATION


APPLICANTS MUST:

  • be a minimum of 16 years old
  • reside in either the Town of Barrhead or the County of Barrhead, and 
  • be available during weekday daytime hours to complete the training.


TRAINING DAYS

February 1, 3, 6, 8, 10, 13, 15, 17, 22, 24, 27

March 1, 3, 6, 8, 10

9:00am – 3:00pm


WAGES

During training hours, candidates will be paid minimum wage of $15.00 per hour. Upon successful completion of the certification courses there will be a wage increase to $18.30 per hour. Failure to complete certification courses will result in termination.

National Lifeguard


PROGRAM TERMS

  • A maximum of 6 candidates will be accepted. 
  • Training hours will not count towards probation hours. 
  • Employees must work a minimum of 1 shift per week for 5 months upon successful completion of all courses.
  • Hours of employment can include mornings, daytime, evenings, and weekends after completion of courses.
