POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for onsite supervision of the Barrhead Regional Landfill Site and safe operation of Landfill equipment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administrative Duties:
- Informing Director of Public Works of problems noted during daily routine and problems with equipment or building structures.
- Keeping records of people coming and going, vehicle type, what they are disposing of and their legal land address.
- Accepting payments of cash, cheque, debit, or credit card.
- Maintaining the office and shop ina. clean, safe, and organized manner.
- Interacting and providing public assistance in a pleasant and efficient manner.
- Ensuring personal safety and wearing appropriate clothing, footwear, goggles, and hard hat when required.
- Ensuring public safety at all times.
- Maintaining confidentiality regarding all aspects of the office, public and personnel
- Any other duties as requested by the Director of Public Works.
Operational Duties:
- Greeting customers, directs them where to dispose of different types of waste, ex: household waste, demolition, metal, etc.
- Operating equipment (CAT, Compactors, Skid Steer).
- General maintenance of said equipment such as greasing, oil checks, air filters, damage to body of equipment, cleaning equipment.
- Daily pushing of waste (household waste, demolition, metals, etc.).
- Proper handling and storage of recycled materials such as paint, oil and tires.
- Maintaining signs, fencing, and flooring in CAT and compactor sheds.
- Removing litter around fence lines, ditches, culverts.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and customer service skills with the ability to work in a team environment.
- Excellent organizational skills and interpersonal skills are required.
- Ability to work under general supervision & exercise some independence of judgement and action.
- Ability to deal with emergency situations as they arise.
- Safety orientated.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Valid Class 5 Alberta driver's license.
- WHMIS Certificate (training will be provided during orientation).
- A proven ability in the operation and maintenance of landfill equipment.
- Valid Landfill Operator Certificate of Qualification or the ability and interest to complete certification during employment.
- Active member of Town Emergency Management Plan.
| HOURS OF WORK: | Tuesday to Saturday, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., 11:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. rotation. |

| COMPENSATION: | A competitive compensation package c/w benefit plan after probationary period. |
