POTENTIAL PADDLE RIVER WATER LEVEL INCREASES
The Paddle River is experiencing rising water levels due to ongoing snow melt. As with every spring, winter snow melt increases levels and current speed in local rivers and streams. At this point, the province has indicated that potential for higher temperatures over the coming weekend (April 18 - 19), there may be a rise of around 0.4 to 0.5 metres (roughly 1.5 feet) high compared to what we're currently seeing. This could result in flooding to our Rotary Park Campground.
Public are advised to refrain from approaching river banks as they are unstable and can easily give way. Remind children of severe dangers of playing near bodies of water, especially during spring thaw. Water may appear slow moving and calm but dangerous currents exist below the water surface.
