HAVE YOUR SAY! URBAN CHICKEN SURVEY

URBAN CHICKEN SURVEY

SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON BACKYARD CHICKENS IN TOWN LIMITS

Some residents in the Town of Barrhead have expressed interest in raising urban chickens within town limits. Currently, it is not an approved use on residential land

Urban chickens refer to the practice of keeping and raising chickens in urban environments, such as backyards. Proponents argue that they provide a sustainable source of fresh eggs, reduce waste through composting, and offer educational opportunities. However, critics raise concerns about noise, odours, potential health risks, and animal welfare.

The Town of Barrhead is conducting a survey to guage our residents' opinions on adopting a bylaw and policy allowing urban chickens within town limits. Your feedback is vital as we strive to make informed decisions that reflect the community's values and preferences.
