Town Rec Facilities Remain Closed

Town Rec Facilities will Remain Closed until Further Notice.

UPDATE:  The Government of Alberta has announced on January 21, 2021, that the orders from December 8, 2020 with eased restrictions effective January 18 will continue until further notice.
On December 8, 2020, the Government of Alberta announced further restrictions to stop the spread of COVID-19 throughout the province.  Included in these measures are the closure of all indoor recreation facilities including gyms, pools, walking tracks, and arenas.  Therefore, all recreation facilities were closed commencing December 13, 2020.

Closed Town facilities include:

  • Barrhead Regional Aquatics Centre
  • Barrhead Agrena
  • Barrhead Curling Rink
  • Bowling Alley
  • Charles Godberson Rotary Room
Please note, as this is a longer closure, we will be emptying the pools to save on maintenance costs.  However, as municipalities find out information from the provincial government at the same time as the public, we do not have advanced notification of any changes to restrictions.  Once we all learn that pools can reopen, please be patient as it takes approximately seven days to refill and heat our pools.
